| It takes a greater amount of
time to break a habit than it does to learn a new one.
But in trying to break one habit you must always replace
it with another. It is a kind of "catch 22" of learned
behavior. There is a life philosophy amongst minority
youth today that has been learned from music, TV and the
lives they live in their own homes. For 13 to 19 years of
a teen's life, these philosophies are being ingrained and
reinforced every day. Many of these philosophies
begin from birth and by 19 they have children of their own
to pass them to.
The Destination Christian Academy has developed a
curriculum which attempts to address, alter and replace
certain currently acceptable life philosophies amongst
minority teens with
different alternatives, choices, options and ways of
thinking. We start right at the teen's level of life and
understanding. And instead of "breaking things down," we
break up each of the 9 basic life principles into a higher
level of awareness.
We are confident in the life changing ability of the
word of God - and so while we start at a basic life
principal, the curriculum will always end in the living,
breathing scripture that relates to that particular topic
of study.
